Barossa Breakfast Day Tour
- Duration: 8 Hours (approx.)
- Location: Tanunda
- Product code: BV185B
Travel through the awakening north eastern suburbs of Adelaide and the Adelaide Hill's townships of Houghton, Inglewood and Kersbrook and continue past the fruit orchards and pine forests of the northern Adelaide Hills.
Enter into the Barossa Valley via the township of Williamstown and make our way to our breakfast stop at Lyndoch Hill. Here enjoy a fully cooked breakfast with a coffee or similar whilst we sit back and watch the Barossa Valley come to life for another day of producing and winemaking.
After breakfast enjoy a short drive beyond the vines to our first tasting for the day at the award winning cellar door and visitors centre at Jacobs Creek. Enjoy a tasting, inspect their demonstration vineyard and learn more about this world famous brand within their museum.
Travel further up the valley enjoying the quaint little villages and stone cottages amongst the vineyards. Be entertained by the stories of the original settlers to the area, the Silesians, and come to understand their drive for a better life. Appreciate their agricultural expertise that saved South Australia's economy during the earlier years of settlement.
Arrive at the 1880s built Chateau Tanunda. A legend of the Barossa and standing proudly in the heart of the township of Tanunda and the whole of the Valley, the Chateau was almost lost for good after it was left to rot and weather during the 1990s after being abandoned by its previous owners.
Today the new owners, the Geber family have saved, restored and are putting the grand winery back on the international map with the production of award winning wines from the region. Enjoy a taste of some of their wines within the historical building.
Next enjoy the views of the Barossa Valley and the surrounds from the Barossa Ranges at Menglers Hill lookout. Understand the lay of the land and the regions agricultural and viticultural development dating back to the 1840s.Take in views all the way to the coastline over 30 kilometres away.
We then head to the banks of the Para River and to the Peter Lehmann winery. Enjoy a Weighbridge Platter for lunch under the magnificent gums of the area. The platter has been bringing the local people together for many years when the Lehmanns would offer a bite to eat to workers and staff, growers and vignerons at the end of a long days work during the vintage and harvest. Today we invite you to enjoy some of the local produce and enjoy a part of the Barossa only locals would have normally experienced.
Throughout the course of the day enjoy visiting another 2 wineries within the Barossa Valley. These wineries may vary from day to day but may include 2 of the following - Langmeil, Rockfords, St Hallett, Kies Family Wines, Eldertons, Saltrams, Kaeslers, just to name a few. Enjoy a tasting of 4 to 8 wines at each of cellar door visited.
Travel back to Adelaide along the palm tree line boulevards of Seppeltsfield and through the Adelaide Plains to arrive back in Adelaide by approximately 4.00pm.
Enjoy an early arrival back in Adelaide to ensure you are on time for a late afternoon flight, dinner date, football match at the Adelaide Oval or other appointment.
